Please note that Portland Children’s Museum exhibits and programs are designed for children aged 0-12, with the following admission policy:

The Museum may close to due weather, special events, and holidays. Be sure to check our CALENDAR .

  • Except as otherwise provided in this policy, adults (age 16+) must be accompanied by a child (age 0-12); siblings of that child age 13-15 are welcome.
  • Parents under age 16 are welcome with their own children.
  • Adults unaccompanied by children are welcome to visit with advance arrangements. Please call 503.471.9911.
  • Adults experiencing disabilities are welcome to visit with their family members or support persons with at least a one-to-one ratio. Support persons are encouraged to call 503.471.9911 in advance so that Museum staff can advise you on the activity level of the building when you plan to arrive, particularly if you’re planning to visit as a group. The Museum offers memberships for adults experiencing disabilities and their support persons, which includes a personal introductory tour to help ensure that the individual can optimize the success of their Museum visit; please call 503.471.9914 for more information.
  • The Museum reserves the right to refuse admission.

In order to maintain a high standard of service and safety for visitors, employees, volunteers, and students, Portland Children’s Museum reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service to any visitor. A visitor may be denied service in circumstances including, but not limited to, the following: violation of any Portland Children’s Museum policy or procedure; misrepresentation of the need for service; threatening or offensive language or behavior; trespassing; physical contact with visitors, employees, volunteers, or students; unreasonable demands for service.

Any Portland Children’s Museum employee can exercise the right to refuse service to any visitor on these or similar grounds. Visitors in violation of any Museum policy will be asked by Museum staff to leave the premises.

Museum Store returns or exchanges can be issued for most items within 30 days of purchase.
Items must be accompanied by the receipt, be in saleable condition, and in unopened, original packaging.
The Museum will honor up to three returns per customer per year.
The Museum reserves the right to refuse returns or exchanges that do not meet these requirements. 

Admission and special event tickets purchased online, onsite, or by phone are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for or applied to any Museum classes, events, group visits, merchandise, parties, programs, products or workshops.

Memberships purchased online, onsite, or by phone are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. 

Gift certificates purchased online, onsite, or by phone are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. 

Camps and classes are partially refundable 14+ days before the start of the camp, minus a $50 fee. Camps and classes are non-refundable 1-14 days before the start or after they are in session.
Should the Museum cancel or reschedule a camp or class, full tuition will be refunded.

Professional development workshops are non-refundable and non-exchangeable, but can be transferred to another attendee within the same institution or organization.

Birthday parties require full payment at the time of reservation.
Parties cancelled within 24 hours of initial booking will receive a full refund.
Parties cancelled after 24 hours from initial booking and before 14 days prior to the event receive a 50% refund. 
Parties cancelled within 14 days of the event will forfeit their full payment.
Hosts who do not show up for their party will forfeit their full payment. 
One schedule change is allowed after the initial booking. All subsequent changes will result in a $20 administrative fee per each change. 

Parking in Washington Park (where the Museum is located) is limited. Visitors, attendees, and guests are encouraged to arrive early, use TriMet, or carpool. No refunds will be issued due to parking issues.

Group visits must be pre-booked and can be changed or rescheduled five or more days before the visit at no cost. Unscheduled groups will not be admitted at the group rate.

The Museum reserves the right to charge 50% of the total reservation fee if group visits are not cancelled in advance.

If groups do not meet the criteria outlined in the Group Guidelines & Agreement (see field trip paperwork), they will pay full admission. 

Group visit rates are fixed and cannot be combined with member discounts, coupons, offers, or certificates to further reduce the price.

Stacking discounts (the practice of applying multiple coupons, offers or certificates in one transaction) is not allowed. The Museum box office staff reserves the right to limit the application of discounts to any transaction, but will work to apply discounts to the benefit of the consumer.
