Knowing where our food comes from and exploring foods from different cultures strengthens our communities. The Market welcomes everyone to seek connections while they playfully explore the role of food in the stories of our lives. Here, as ingredients move from garden-to-table, they enrich and nourish relationships by inviting curiosity and nurturing the seeds of empathy needed to grow strong communities.
In The Market, open-ended play is inspired by design work done by Opal School 3rd graders and shaped by loose parts and imagination! Visitors of all ages delight in the discovery of their abilities as they: gather vegetables and eggs from the garden, pick out fresh produce from the Farmers Market, serve up a hot meal in the café, check out foods from all over the world and cook a signature Portland meal in the food truck. No matter where you are in The Market, you and your family can reflect on where food comes from and how it brings us together.
