Meet our Volunteers!
Portland Children’s Museum volunteers are essential to the success and maintenance of the Museum.
They work in a diverse range of jobs from direct interaction with visitors, exhibit set-up and breakdown,
and administrative assistance. In any given week our volunteers put in almost 300 hours! To express our appreciation,
we would like to highlight three of our hard-working volunteers, Karen, Ramesh and Emma for the amazing work
they do every day.

Karen is a college student who loves working at the Museum because her job is so diverse
and every day is different. Her favorite sections are Water Works, the Dig Pit, and the Clay and Garage studios.
Karen volunteers 20 hours a week. Ramesh works as a volunteer in the accounting department. He moved to the
U.S. five years ago from India where he owned his own business, and he just became a U.S. citizen last month!

Ramesh has worked for the Museum for 4 months where he works 16 hours a week. He enjoys his Museum co-workers
and the opportunity to constantly improve his accounting skills. Emma came to Portland from England this past
January with qualifications in childcare and hopes to get a full-time job working with children. She likes the
ability to socialize with parents and kids and the opportunity to work in many different locations throughout the
day. Like Karen, Emma volunteers about 20 hours per week. Thank you so much to all of our volunteers!
