Play Guide Internship Description

Internship Responsibilities
The play guide intern assists Museum educator staff with establishing and maintaining an environment that encourages a mood in the museum that is playful, spontaneous, fun, and focuses on exploration and experimentation. Play guides help to enhance the visitor experience by encouraging play and learning through inquiry, demonstration, and interaction with families. Play guide interns work alongside staff and volunteers to provide active customer service, maintain safety and cleanliness standards, and deliver programs in alignment with the Museum's mission and values. Position open year-round and for summers!

Studio Internship Description

The Children's Museum operates two year-round studios for all ages, the Clay Studio and Wonder Corner, and one studio for children age 6 and up, the Garage. Our studios are free with admission and provide families with opportunities to explore a variety of art media. Activities are facilitated by staff educators, who encourage play and learning through inquiry, demonstration, and interaction with families.

Intern Responsibilities
The studio intern will assist educator staff with ongoing program preparation, implementation, maintenance, documentation and evaluation. The intern will ensure an environment that is physically and emotionally safe for young children, and encourage creative exploration in positive, open-ended ways. Depending on position openings and intern interest, it may be possible to incorporate facilitation of the Glazing Workshop into the internship. Glazing takes place on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays weekly. The volunteer shift is 1:30-4:45 and includes set up, facilitation and break down of activity. Share the excitement as children's clay art comes to life with vibrant color! Help children choose colors to decorate their creations and walk them through the glazing process! Position open year-round and for summers!
