ADMISSION POLICY Please note that Portland Children’s Museum exhibits and programs are designed for children aged 0-12, with the following admission policy:
The Museum may close to due weather, special events, and holidays. Please be sure to check our CALENDAR at for these dates and times.
Except as otherwise provided in this policy, adults (age 16+) must be accompanied by a child (age 0-12); siblings of that child age 13-15 are welcome
Parents under age 16 are welcome with their own children
Adults unaccompanied by children are welcome to visit with advance arrangements. Please call 503.471.9911
Adults experiencing disabilities are welcome to visit with their family members or support persons with at least a one-to-one ratio. Support persons are encouraged to call 503.471.9911 in advance so that Museum staff can advise you on the activity level of the building when you plan to arrive, particularly if you’re planning to visit as a group. The Museum offers memberships for adults experiencing disabilities and their support persons, which includes a personal introductory tour to help ensure that the individual can optimize the success of their Museum visit; please call 503.471.9914 for more information

Our Weapons Policy: As the site of a public charter school, the Museum is a weapons-free environment and follows the Weapons, Explosives, and Fire Bombs Policy of Portland Public Schools. No person except a Peace Officer shall have or enable another to have a weapon, replica of a weapon, or explosive on Museum property. The full policy is found HERE.
The Museum welcomes service animals with a vest or other identification; other animals or pets are not allowed except as part of Museum programs. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defines service animals as a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability. Dogs or therapy animals whose function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals according to ADA, even with a doctor's note.
