Field Trips & Group Visits

A trip to the ‘museum that doesn’t act like a museum’ will have students eager to explore, learn, and create! We offer three group visit options that are sure to compliment your needs. You can bring your class to play and explore with all of our Museum exhibits and current traveling exhibit with the Museum Play Field Trip. Or you can come play in the Museum for an hour and have students take one of our art studio classes with the Art Studio Field Trip. To book either of these options please print out and fax our printable form. After submitting your request, our reservationist will contact you to confirm your reservation.

You can also book a trip with the Museum where we come to you! See right hand-column for details. To register for Art Studio Workshops at Your School please call our Arts In Focus staff at 503-471.9918 or email aif@portlandcm.org.

ART STUDIO FIELD TRIP

ONE HOUR PLAY + ONE ART CLASS

$7.50/student

1 adult/5 students FREE*

Play in the Museum and add an art studio class! Available for age 2 through 5th grade.

15 child min, 24 child max

CLAY

Children will learn the basics of molding and experimenting with clay. Come create a one-of-a-kind sculpted piece of your imagination. Throw on an apron and get ready to be up to your elbows in fun.

PAINT

Children discover a new and creative world through mixing colors, combining line drawings and paint, painting on unconventional surfaces, and trying out a wide variety of brush strokes. These creations make a beautiful collection for your classroom and provide a wonderful way to document and display student learning.

PAPER

Rip, roll, cut and crunch. Form paper into three dimensional sculptures, mosaics and colorful collages. Imagine illustrating a passage from a beloved book with only paper, scissors and glue, or developing math and structural skills while building a cardboard house.

DRAW

With a pen and paper, children will learn to slow down and notice detail. Drawing from observation encourages very fine motor-skill development and student confidence. Children will learn the elements of line through an exploration of different drawing tools.

SCRAPS

Transform trash into treasure while working either in our Garage studio. Learn about reusing items that you would normally toss in the trash. Construct and deconstruct recycled material to build a masterpiece.

* $5.00 for each additional, adults must be 18 years of age.

**Art Class Length: ages 2-5, 60min, and grades K-5, 75min
