Opal School Mentorship Program
October 2013 – June 2014
The Mentorship Program supports teachers seeking an in-depth experience of observation and reflection within Opal School’s preschool – 5th grade classrooms. The program allows participants to flexibly design a series of visitations to Opal classrooms in session throughout the school year. This provides an opportunity for extended exposure to inquiry-based approaches to teaching and learning through the arts and sciences. The program also includes participation in a series of Center workshops, summer symposium, and seminars focused on developing a culture of teacher research.
Program fee includes:
- Creating & Sustaining Learning Communities: October 11, 2013
- Opal School Visitation Days: January 29 – 31, 2014
- Summer Symposium: June 19 – 21, 2014
- Classroom visitations (dates self-selected by participant)
- Two cohort seminars: October 10, 2013, 5:30-8:30 pm & a full day seminar in April 2014 (TBD)
Also Included:
- Access to the Opal School classroom sites
- 20% discount on additional Opal School Workshops and publications
- Participation in Opal School Online
Cost: $1300 ($1200 if paid-in-full by 08/15/2013)
Participation and Credit: Limited to 15 participants. Undergraduate or graduate credit available through Portland State University
