Capital Improvement

In June of 2005, Portland Children’s Museum embarked on a $1.6 million Capital Improvement Project (CIP) to upgrade and improve current exhibit space, build five brand-new exhibits, bring two national traveling exhibits to the Museum, and expand Opal School with the addition of three new classrooms.

Beginning in FY05-06 and ending in FY07-08, the Museum will undertake and complete the following projects with appropriate funding:

Re-open upgraded Water Works exhibit: July ’05 (completed)
Open new Building Bridgetown exhibit: November ’05 (completed)
Host Can You Tell Me How to Get to Sesame Street? traveling exhibit: December ’05 (completed)
Open newly located and remodeled Kids Care Clinic exhibit (completed)
Open three new Opal School classrooms (two completed)
Host Five Friends from Japan traveling exhibit: October ’06 – January ’07 (completed)
Open new Twilight Trail and Dorothea Lensch Play it Again Theater exhibit: (completed)
Museum wide HVAC repair and upgrade
Open new Baby Garden exhibit: September ’08
